My Theme For The Challenge This Year Is Baking! Today’s Letter Is “E”!
Evaporated Milk: We’ve all used it a time or two and if not, I’m pretty sure it has been in a baked goodie you have had at some point in your life.
What is Evaporated Milk? Essentially it is fresh milk that has had about 60% of it’s water removed from it. It becomes very thick. It is often used in baking as well as cooking.
What to do if you have run out of a can of that expensive storebought stuff that has milk in it but also several other ingredients that are hard to pronounce? Make your own!
- 2/3 Cup Non-Fat Dry Milk
- 3/4 Cup Water
If you follow this it makes 8 ounces or 1 cup.
To make: Mix water and dry milk very well together.

Welcome to this weeks edition of Aloha Friday!
My Question This Week Is:
Do you like to bake bread? If so, do you use a bread machine or do it all by hand?
My Answer Is:
I LOVE to bake bread, breads of all kinds. I use both methods. Sometimes I will use my bread machine but the results are not always satisfactory to me. I actually enjoy making it all by hand as well, kneeding dough for 10+ minutes is good for the soul, lol. I own just a Sunbeam bread machine, nothing to fancy but works…kind of,haha.

I don’t know about you, but I have loved English Muffins since I was a kid. Butter has always been my favorite topping to. Is butter considered a topping? Have you ever had an English Muffin pizza? If not, try it.
The baking bug has bit me again, I never stop wanting to bake but life is what it is right now and hubby is in school, so I am not going to go crazy baking with no where to haul all this yumminess off to! I’ve never made English Muffins before and tried it last night.
These are delicious. I ate one fresh off the griddle, piping hot and put some butter on it. Heavenly. From one batch I got 15 English Muffins, more than enough for two of us. Daniel had one for breakfast this morning, we toasted it in the toaster and added butter and some jelly. He said he liked it.
I had planned on making & baking homemade cinnamon rolls today but ended up with a lovely migrainish type head ache this morning thanks to allergies and sinus crap. Maybe if I am feeling better later tonight after dinner, I will bake into the wee hours of the early morning. Baking is better than sleeping.

I just finished this beach themed Birthday card today. It is for my brother-in-law who’s special day is on the 23rd of this month. To make this card I used my Cricut Expression machine. The cartridges I used were: Stretch Your Imagination, Paper Pups, Celebrations. I also used the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge & Cricut Design Studio for “Ronald”. Eyelets were used to keep the layers together. It is hard to tell but some of the items are slightly “lifted” from the card using 3D Dots. I used a stamp on the backside on a tag that says “Handmade By”.
