No Signs Of Spring

So, Spring has sprung…at least in the states it has! I am hearing of temperatures in the 70′s & 80′s in Maine, where my family resides. Not that I am wanting for or asking for spring weather yet. I am quite content with the white stuff flying about. Although, being as sick as I am, any weather stinks.

I think I am getting better. I can not tell you how much of a joke I believe the UCC is here when it comes to some stuff. Mind you, I am happy we have a UCC and somewhere to go if there is an emergency or something after hours or if it is near impossible to get a regular appointment with your PCM. So I am in no way ungrateful but just going off a previous experience I had with the UCC this past summer. So I am avoiding going there at almost every cost…at least for a cold.

We have had some temperatures in 40′s, almost reaching the 50′s and most of the snow had melted. You could see green grass, seemed to be some new birds in town. People on base were happy, thinking flowers and trees would be blooming in a few weeks. That was until a bulletin was put out last night. I was shocked to read we were expecting 20 inches this weekend.

20 inches this late in March?? Again, I have no clue when actual spring arrives here. We got off the plane here on May 31st last year and it was still cold, lots of rain in the 40′s & low 50′s. I just remember one day it was cold or chilly then all of a sudden we were dying from heat. It was on the warmish side today and I began doubting we’d see any snow, at least not tonight.

I was wrong. It’s snowing. I think it was a wintery mix at first but now it is full blown snow, the grounds are getting covered in the white stuff and the base wide complaining will be starting big time here in a few hours, or when the plows have to come out. Nothing is ever right or good with people on this base. I think people OFTEN forget we are in another country, not the United States.

It is a perfect weekend for reading & watching the snow fall. I am almost finished with a book  I will be reviewing this coming week, good stuff! It’s a duty weekend for Daniel and today he worked a full shift then had to stand watch till 12am…he should be home in an hour or so. Did I mention we don’t have our car right now?

We had some issues, seemed like little things at the time and we put it off for a few weeks longer than we most likely should have. Mind you, we live in Japan and drive cars from the 1990′s…I kid you not. Things are bound to happen and break, get screwy on a car that old. We’ve not had our car all week now. Something happened with the steering wheel and they have to take it all apart…you know, fun stuff.

We apparently were off about how long we had left on our warranty too, so this is coming out of our pocket…Why must these things happen when you pay a car off? Hmmmm? I am trying not to complain to much about that. It pretty much stinks for the husband more than I. He gets to walk back home tonight in the snowiness. Good times!

I am guessing no grocery shopping for this week. We do it on Sundays but no car…Will have to get creative with a few dinners, till we get the car back. They had said by Thursday or Friday…guess not.

Bun is getting bigger! My how 1 week makes such a difference! She eats like crazy! Zoey & her get along so well. It is strange, really. I am not sure what Zoey gets out of it. She will sit with Bun all day if I let her and when Bun is out, running about..Zoey follows her. She looks at Bun with such love, it cracks us up! I’ve gotten some cute pictures of the two of them together.

So, while spring is not here yet, I hope to be feeling so much better this week. There is so much I’ve not been able to do because I am sick & tired!

  1. Yes, spring has sprung big time here in the States. We’ve had record amounts of pollen here in Georgia. Ah-choo!
Hope your snow clears and your car gets fixed soon.
Oh, and I will be looking for your photos of Bun and Zoey. :)
    Glad you’re feeling better!
    Blessings!
