Melanie Cooper and Angie DeLaura are finally living out their dream as the proud owners of the Fairy Tale Cupcakes bakery. But their first big client is a nightmare. She’s a bridezilla who wants 500 custom cupcakes for her wedding.

When Mel stumbles upon the bride-to-be dead-by-cupcake, she becomes the prime suspect. To save themselves and their business, the ladies need to find the real murderer, before the cupcake killer ices someone else.

My Thoughts

This is the first book I’ve read that introduced me to a genre referred to as a culinary mystery. I was very hesitant but I am so glad I read this book! The main character is Melanie, it almost seems that Angie was an afterthought but she fit well into the plot.

Melanie & Angie own a bakery and have a rival named Olivia who always seems to show suspicious behavior. When a bride turns up dead, all eyes are pointed at the brides baker Melanie but Angie and Melanie have a sneaking suspicion Olivia might have something to do with it.

This story had me guessing and I guessed wrong in the end. I love it when I do not completely figure it all out. This is a first book in a new series called “A Cupcake Mystery”, look for book #2 in January 2011.

I highly recommend this book, it was light, fun and even has some very yummy cupcake recipes at the end of the book. Take a chance, like I did if you have not read a book like this before, you may discover you enjoy culinary mysteries.
